Chop Chop!

That's the name for this new experiment. I'm trying to learn how to cook more and how to cook better. I have a new cookbook called Pok Pok. It is about Thai food, and quite frankly, it is scary as balls. Every last recipe in it is baffling in some way. Reading though, I feel kind of like the way I felt when I started cooking; scared of fucking up, but excited at the same time. Fucking up seems like a real prospect--these recipes involve mysterious ingredients, confusing techniques, assloads of time and care. I could seriously screw up a meal. It has been a long time since I've done that. I'm excited.

So! Ima cook a bunch, and see how it goes, and write down what happens here.
